Hubcaps
15-inch wheel trims or 14-inch wheel trims, at Winparts you can find hub caps for
almost all rim sizes. Wheel covers, car trims or hub caps are round discs that
you mount over the rims, so the rim and
wheel bolts are no longer visible. A
wheel cap is therefore not the same as a car rim. Wheel trims have no practical
function, they are primarily intended for the styling of your car. With a set
of wheel caps, you can give your car a cool, chic or tough look. It is also not
legally required to place them on your wheels, as they are not necessary but
just for styling. Winparts sells original wheel trims for different car makes such Toyota, Citroën and Seat.
So, a
wheel trim is therefore often used to improve the appearance of the car, but
did you know they also have another advantage? They protect your
car tyres and
rims against damages caused by, for example, curbs. If you want to purchase a
set, we recommend that you pay attention to a number of points.
Which hubcaps?
When you want to purchase hub caps, there are a number
of points you can pay attention to. First of all, you need to know which wheel
covers fit on your car rims. Also, you need to check whether the caps fit on
your rims at all. Does your car have black or grey steel rims? Then you can
easily place hub caps on them. However, does your car have alloy wheels? Then
you cannot place wheel covers on them.
Next, you will have to look at the inch size of your
rims. You can find the inch size on the side of your car tyres. On the tyre is
a code such as 180/50 R15. The number after the R is the inch size, so in this
case, you need 15-inch wheel trims . Select the correct inch size on this page,
now you can see all the trims fit for your car. But pay attention, the size of
your
winter tyres may differ from your summer tyres and vice versa.
Placing hubcaps & wheel trims
Placing wheel trims is very easy. In most cases, you
can easily click the car trims on the car rims. The wheel trims have mounting
clips, which you can press in the wheel. Do you hear a click? Then the car
trims are stuck. However, there are also hub caps that must be mounted using a
ring. You place this in the wheel cover. Then place the hub cap with the valve
recess on the rims. Now push and check if the trim is properly secured.
After you
placed the car trims, it is important to maintain them. To maintain your hub
caps, it is best to use a
sponge or soft cleaning cloth . Also, a mild tyre cleaner is recommended. Corrosive or abrasive agents can cause damages to the wheel
trims.
Hubcaps vs. wheel trims
Although we use both words interchangeably, there is in fact a difference. The difference between a wheel trim and a hubcap is how much of the wheel?s surface they actually cover. A wheel trim is basically an accessory that covers the entire diameter of the wheel rim. The hubcap only covers the center portion of the rim, concealing the lug nuts only.
