Renault is a French manufacturer of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, trucks, tractors and aircraft engines. The Renault brand was created when Louis Renault showed his experiment to a number of friends on Christmas Eve in 1898, together with his brothers Marcel and Fernand.
This was originally a Dion-Bouton (tricycle), but that has been converted into a four-wheeled motor vehicle called the Voiturette. That same evening, Louis is challenged by a lawyer to climb Rue Lepic in Montmartre in his self-designed vehicle. This street has a gradient of 13% and was a rash action at the time. The Voiturette drives Louis through this street with flying colors, which impresses the lawyer and immediately orders a Voiturette. The lawyer also ordered a Voiturette for the rest of the group that evening, this is also the beginning and origin of Renault as a car manufacturer.
Today, Renault is the leader in electric vehicles in Europe. In addition, Renault is part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. Renault has produced a number of well-known models over the years. Think, for example, of the Twingo, Clio, Mégane, Scénic, Laguna, Captur, Kadjar, Master and the Kangoo. Renault's ambition is to shape and represent modernity and innovation in technology, energy and mobility services in the automotive industry and beyond.
