An inverter for your car can be very useful for giving power to your devices. There are different types of car inverters on the market, so it is important to consider before purchasing what type of inverter you need and what you want to use it for.

Which car inverter do I need?

There are mainly two types of car inverters: the pure sine inverter and the modified sine inverter. The pure sine inverter is the most common, it delivers the same power that comes from your wall socket at home. These are suitable for charging your laptop, phone or tablet, and can also supply audio equipment with power without generating noise. With a pure inverter, you do not have to worry about short circuits.

Modified sine wave inverters are cheaper, but are not suitable for sensitive equipment such as laptops and TVs. They can damage the battery and cause noise in radios and other audio equipment.

Additionally, the connections can differ. For example, some car inverters are connected to the cigarette lighter, while others must be connected to the car battery using battery clamps. Car inverter

With a car inverter, you change the voltage coming out of your car to a different voltage. This can be useful if you want to charge a device or, for example, supply a lamp or laptop with power from your car, camper or truck. The cigarette lighter of your car normally supplies 12V. For a truck, this is often 24V. This is much less than the 230V that comes from your wall socket. To ensure that your devices still have sufficient power to work, you can then connect a power inverter that increases the voltage. There are also inverters that are made to convert the higher voltage of a truck battery (24V) to 12V, which is suitable for small equipment.
