What is car wrapping?

Car wrap is a self-adhesive film that you can place on smooth or painted parts of your car. Car wrapping is, to put it briefly, wrapping the car with vinyl. With vinyl wrap you can give your car, for example, a different colour. Instead of wrapping the whole car, most people choose to wrap specific parts of the car such as the side mirrors or door handles. Wrapping the whole car is often a lot of work and can be very expensive.

Car wrap is made of flexible material which makes it easy to fold around parts of the car. The self-adhesive glue layer is composed in such a way that it is not immediately completely fixed. When applying the foil, you can therefore lift the foil gently and reposition it.

There are different kinds of car wrap available. First, you have paint protection film. The protection film is a transparent foil that you place over the car?s paint. You can place this wrap film on vulnerable point such as the front bumper. The film will protect those parts against rust, stone chips and scratches. Also, you have dashboard foil. You can use this to give the interior of your car a new look. Next, there is car wrap film, this is the standard wrap film as we explained above.

How to wrap your car

Car wrapping is something you can do you yourself. However, you can also let a specialist wrap your car, but this will probably cost a lot of money. Wrapping your car is not that difficult;

1. First make sure that the wrap film is at room temperature;

2. Make sure that the surface you want to wrap is clean and free of grease;

3. Cut the foil in the right size;

4. Remove the protective layer from the car wrap film;

5. Put the wrap film as tightly as possible over the surface. Repositioning is possible;

6. Flatten the air bubbles with a squeegee from the application set;

7. Blow-dry the wrap film until it is placed tightly over the surface. Make sure keep the blow-dryer not to close to the surface, but keep it 30 cm away;

8. Flatten the remaining air bubbles again;

9. Cut off the excess wrap film, be careful not to damage your car.
